Ulrika wanted to be an opera singer as a little kid, always singing around the house, fascinated by how beautiful it was. Aged 16 she auditioned for and was accepted into the Stockholm Music Conservatory.



Aino Jawo from Icona Pop became a friend on the Stockholm music scene and the pair used to do backing vocals for one another. Ulrika and Tove Lo used to ride the same horse at weekends. Growing up in a supportive, rich musical environment, she soon realised that she wanted to make music for a living and started writing her own songs.



Inspired by Erykah Badu, Little Dragon, Lauryn Hill, Lykke Li and classic 90s dance anthems, Ulrika's music is dark and catchy Scandinavian pop with big, soaring melodies.



One morning she announced to her parents that she would be moving to London to pursue a career in music. Studying by day at London College of Music and working as a session singer by night, Ulrika paid her dues in the smallest clubs and the plushest hotels in town. Singing in front of 30,000 people at Rewind Festival was less nerve racking than performing “Happy” at the Corinthia Hotel – with Pharrell watching from the bar.



Ulrika Uma's debut single “Golden”, produced by The Animal Farm, is a strong modern pop anthem by an engaging performer with a strong personality.
