Wasting Our Own Time In Our Own Way:
Yossarian are an eclectic collective hailing from the UK, Australia and Argentina, an ever shifting and fluid line-up that has been constantly evolving their sound throughout the years. The band first came to prominence when it opened Hop Farm Festival in 2012 after festival owner Vince Power witnessed their electrifying live performances in London. Since then, the band has released two albums it crowdfunded with the help of its loyal fan base, ‘The Little We Know’ (2013) and ‘Light Up My Head’ (2015), played in festivals across the UK and Europe, and has been touring extensively around the world.
Inspired by Brooklyn based bands such as Grizzly Bear and The National, Yossarian blend post-rock sensibilities with a quixotic sentiment to create a sky-scraping epic sound laden with accelerating electric guitar atmospherics and orchestral layers. Their lyrics are dark, melancholic and ambiguous, and drift between themes of meaningless mortality and universal human dreams and nightmares. The vocals are dealt out starkly over an ever changing landscape that shifts between ethereal soundscapes resembling the musical love child of Arcade Fire and Pink Floyd.
The band has recently launched its third crowdfunding campaign to raise the funds to record their new album, following their previous successful campaigns to record ‘The Little We Know’ and ‘Light Up My Head’. The album is already under production and is due to be released in 2018.
