Auguste

About

Growing up on stolen tape records from her sister of The Fugees and learning Rihanna’s ‘Take a Bow’ on her grandad’s Casio piano, Auguste always felt emotionally drawn to the world of R&B. She grew up in a small port city and her safe place was always the sea. ’Seeing water frees any assumptions I have about myself. Watching waves and things in movement, I realise I can give myself the permission to be as untamed as I please.’ Hardly drawn out of pine forests by her mother Auguste acquired a very particular and wild personality. Exploring the vulnerability of being open and straightforward she was always finding it hard to tame her feelings getting her in a lot of strange situations strongly shaping her path of songwriting. She later immersed herself in Jazz and Soul genres, letting her voice timber that is reminiscent of Amy Winehouse and a varied mixture of styles and artists like Jorja Smith,NAO, Sabrina Claudio, H.E.R., BANKS, Eliza, Ella Eyre and Drake inspire her unique sound. In early teenage years Auguste found herself immersed in a local music scene performing, forming bands and writing with producers and singing on other people’s tracks for fun. While in Lithuania, she presented a song on Lithuanian’s National TV show ‘Good Morning, Lithuania’ and sang for Sheila Raye Charles. ‘From a young age I felt drawn to stories and imagined being a storyteller myself. Creating and living in characters I made up in my head fascinated me to bring them to life and share them with other people’. Strong conflicted emotions covered in sensuality and depth of voice brings a listener to a world of endless discovery of feelings. When first coming to the UK she debuted with a performance alongside Bill Laurance and the band Snarky Puppy. Later playing in Manchester’s music venues like Band on the Wall, The Deaf Institute and The Bread Shed.
Now she introduced her first Alternative R&B/Soul single ‘Don’t Let Me Down’. ‘This song transforms a bitter taste of my disappointment into a sensual calling for love.' Getting close and personal just like the uncomfortable feeling of desperateness itself. In a short amount of time the single had great success being featured on Union JACK Radio as well as Amazing Radio described as ‘The brand new Manchester talent’ and featured on BBC Music Introducing Show as Ryan Paul's pick of the week – 'This is a vibe and I think it's fair to say I'm a little bit in love with Auguste'.
