Counterfeit Youth

About

Counterfeit Youth are a 5 piece pop punk/alt rock group hailing from Newcastle Upon Tyne. The band formed in 2016 initially playing covers however soon began writing their own material, taking influences from Blink-182, Biffy Clyro and Strange Bones to name just a few.

Within a year the group gained a great local following and were snapped up by Soundhub record label in Belper in the summer of 2017. They began recording of their first single with Soundhub in November 2017 and produced an EP which they released through their own label on 7th April 2018.

Since then the band completed a well received mini tour of the UK in early 2018 with their good friends in Namsake and played noteable shows in the north east including a support slot with scottish band Woes.

Most recently, the band performed a headline show at the O2 Academy in Newcastle to accompany their first single and video release through the Sound-Hub label. Both the show and single were warmly received by critics, including favourable reviews from For The Love Of Bands and Alt Revue, with the former writing “The band put me in mind of a young Biffy Clyro, mixed with some mid 2000’s pop punk energy”.

The band are currently in the middle of recording a new EP and remain regular faces on the north east music scene, hoping 2019 will be the year they can start pushing further afield!
