About

Brand new alt-rock five-piece FOLLOWER have announced the release of their debut EP ‘Against the Ropes’ and revealed the first two singles which have been released on all music platforms.

The 6-track EP, like many debuts, started in a bedroom with the whole band closely involved in writing; drawing from their own experiences as a collective and as individuals. The EP was then recorded at Outhouse studios with Simon Jackman, who also mixed and mastered the tracks.

‘Against The Ropes’ refers to how life can sometimes get on top you and you can feel like there is nowhere to turn. Expressed throughout the tracks on the EP, the band have all felt like this before and often turned to music for support. In turn, they hope that this record can be something that listeners in the same situation can turn to.

The track ‘Voices’ stemmed from singer Luke’s struggles after being diagnosed with ADHD, and the loneliness and anxiety that came with the diagnosis. The everyday ‘voices’ of his ADHD would always tell him that he was going to fail at whatever he did.

The haunting video for ‘Voices’ was filmed inside and in the surrounding areas of Powerhouse studios in Addlestone by Rob Stanbury. The glitchy effect of the video gives a visual interpretation of the lyrics and the internal battle between the ‘voices’.
