About

Joanna Leila is a singer/ songwriter from London and has been performing and writing since she was 10 years old. Her debut single, Over My Dead Body, was released in February 2018, her sound is an acoustic blend of blues, soul, and pop which is taken from her teenage influences of Florence and The Machine, Bon Iver and The Rolling Stones.
In 2017 she performed at Bestival with her band: Elliot Linsey, Matt Nicholas & Jim Reed. She spent 4 years studying music at The BRIT School. Over those years she performed in London venues such as The National Portrait Gallery, The Royal Thames Yacht Club, Rich Mix, Kamio and many times at the infamous Half Moon Pub in Putney. In 2016 she travelled to Pondicherry, South India where she performed for 4000 people to raise money for a local orphanage.
On leaving The BRIT School in 2016, she began working in the industry. Her former boss, Bernard Doherty, who hosts Planet Rock’s Blues Power show, inspired her to develop more bluesy elements of her style which can be heard in her songs, particularly in A Little Is A Lot and Like A Fuse.
