Johnny Kills

About

“full of festival-ready bounce, the beachy, surf-rock guitars and propulsive bassline creating a full-throttle tour-de-force of what it means to be arresting indie rock in 2018.” The Line of Best Fit

“Heaps of fun” DORK

“What happens if scuzzy rock and pop hangout for a bit? Johnny Kills” GIGWISE

“the infectiously wonky hooks” EARMILK

Johnny Kills are a scuzzy surf-pop trio made up of biological bros Tim and Lewis Lloyd-Kinnings alongside spiritual bro Cameron Gipp.

Based between London and Brighton their first official releases through the summer of 2017, including the break-neck punk of Let’s Talk About Me, slacker infused My Shirt Guy is High and garage-rock stomp of End Game, caught the attention of online and radio tastemakers including The Line of Best Fit, DORK, Indie Shuffle and BBC Introducing The South, for whom they were invited in to perform a live session for in early 2018. It also put them under the eyes and ears of cult London label Killing Moon, who have been behind subsequent releases.

Likened to Wavves, FIDLAR, Bad Sounds, Bloody Knees and more, the emphasis is on fun, energetic, dorky music. Themes riffed on centre around small-p-problems in a relatable sense; youth boredom, faux pas, badly defined relationships etc.

They work with producer Alex Greaves (Heavy Lungs, Yowl, Bo Ningen) to add a unique and recognisable fuzzy sheen to their genre-hopping sound.
