Jules Phoenix & Remi F

About

hrop College, University of London."The 2 heaviest b*****s I've ever seen!" -Audience member -New cross Inn.

Jules Phoenix has been playing guitar and writing songs for many years before first performing as a solo artist in March 2010. In October 2010, Jules was joined by the contemporary Afro-Latin percussionist Remi F who complemented Jules's Reggae and Rock sound. Remi started out playing the snare drum from the age of 7 in a traditional marching band like drummers Keith Moon and Steve Gadd. She is keen to incorporate hand percussion as she feels it links to her traditional African roots.

The music is a cool Fusion of Rock, Reggae, Ska and Blues with Latin and Hip Hop beats. They have been compared to Santana, Hendrix, Dylan, Chrissie Hynde, Natty, 90’s Britpop and the Slits.
Their performances involve musical showmanship which has to be seen.
In just a short time together word has spread.
They got to the London heats of a UK talent contest and runners up in Sydenham's Battle of the Bands where they became best unsigned act. Celebrity Judges including Joy Leah Josephs (Mr Hudson's percussionist) and the Woodentops (one of Britain’s first Indie bands) rated them among the top two acts.

Jules Phoenix and Remi F’s music has themes of empowerment and overcoming adversity, as the Phoenix suggests.
