Kalpa are a 5-piece guitar driven indie band that deliver a floor filling sound, with soaring vocals that melt your heart and grooves to get you dancing all at the same time. Comprised of Sam Kydd (vocals, synths and additional guitar), Jamie Walford (guitar and backing vocals), Dex Millest (drums and backing vocals), Nic Morris (bass and backing vocals) and Rory O’Rourke (guitar). Hailing from different parts of the U.K. the members met in Bath, all with a similar influences musically such as: Foals, Jaws, Diiv, Alvvays, Joy Division, Slowdive and The Cure. Kalpa’s live performances are full of energy and charisma, providing a varied set of exciting well written songs with catchy guitar riffs comprised of the dichotomy of Jamie’s meatier soul-driven tones and Rory’s lighter tones which still pack a punch. Along with exciting bass patterns and grooving drums that compliment one another to create a solid rhythm section. Sam Kydd’s soaring and emotive vocal lines are unlike anything you have heard and they cut through the sound and transfix and audience. Dex, Nic and Jamie provide backing vocals that can create either a beautiful layered harmony or a gang vocal that will knock anyone off their feet. All of these elements fuse together seamlessly to create a fluid and floor-filling sound. This sound has graced stages across England; including slots supporting the likes of Flyte, King No-One and Voyages (f.k.a The Family Rain).
