Nia Nicholls

About

My name is Nia Nicholls and I am a 18 year old singer/songwriter from the UK. I’ve been writing songs since I was 7 and started playing the guitar and performing publicly when I was 10. I have been to Tennessee 4 times and have performed at songwriter venues in Nashville and Memphis. Last year, I was fortunate enough to record my song “I Chose You” in Nashville. It was a song I wrote when I was 15 and going through my first puppy love experience. The song’s lyrics have been quoted by artists such as Larry Raspberry from the 60’s band, The Gentry’s, who said he wished he had written the line “Why would you want vintage when you could have new?”. The song has since peaked at Number 4 on WBCW Top 20 Charts and was made Track of the Week on Wandsworth Radio, London. Looking back on where I started and where I am now, I am so grateful for how encouraging everybody has been of me and my songs and it’s the best feeling in the world when somebody tells me they like my music.

Last year, Matt Jessup from the Gary Newman band emailed me to congratulate me on a performance he saw of mine and Dean Friedman has supported my career since I was 13, after I played him two original songs. Having these very successful people support me has been extremely motivating and now having radio stations contact me to ask if I would like to be on their show makes all the hard work worth it.
