Slender Pins

About

What is a slender pin? Choose to Google slender pin and you’ll be confronted by photos of either coffee tables or female models baring their long naked legs. Slender Pins situate themselves within these juxtapositions: mondaine and extraordinary, but practical yet promiscuous.

Formed in 2018, Slender Pins are a new West-London based post-punk/new-wave outfit with a hunger to take their music to the masses; the small men ready to take on the big man. The band released their debut single, Where’s the Money, and has earned support from Amazing Radio and recently been picked up by Gary Crowley of BBC Music Introducing in London. Slender Pins performed their first show last November supporting Barringtone at Off the Cuff in South London and are currently booking up shows around the capital in the upcoming months. The band will release their debut EP in May.

Vocalist, Ash Burt, and guitarist, Alex Sword, met five years ago whilst reading History and Politics at university in Exeter. Completing their degrees and both moving to London, Ash and Alex had big dreams of finding themselves rewarding, well-paid graduate career, only to instead find themselves joined by a number of throw away bass players living out an even smaller dream; writing and performing hard and fast post-punk social commentaries with an age old drum machine in the toilet venues of London under several guises. Drummer, Ed, and Alex’s brother, Rob joined the outfit in the Summer of 2018 and Slender Pins was born.

Slender Pins are poster-boys for Generation Y, who sound like something in between the Sex Pistols, Pulp, Led Zeppelin and those bands heralded by Justin Lee Collins and Alan Carr 13 years ago on the Friday Night Project.
