Tycklemore Goats

About

Delores and Leroy began performing as Tycklemore Goats in the autumn of 2014. This pair of kooks jumped into a bright green car and headed west, followed the outline of a map printed on a torn in half tea-towel, and ended up in Penzance. New in town and looking to start afresh, they named themselves (controversially) after Devonshire Cheese and never looked back. Mark E Smith once said that it doesn’t matter who comes and who goes as long as he’s in the band, it’s The Fall. Well, just about the same goes for Tycklemore Goats, as long as you got Delores Sparkletears and Leroy Dupree you’ve got the ‘Goats.

Tycklemore Goats were quite happy as a duo, for a time. With Leroy on guitar alongside Delores’ fragile vocal delivery; their raw and distinctive style was quite a treat. But, overtime, the herd has grown – from three to five to seven Goats in all, singing songs about Coyotes and Dinosaurs, about Bunting and Marmite. Some concerts and events want a gentle sound – and some shows lend themselves to a more high octane musical landscape. In various guises Tycklemore Goats have played in Newlyn Art Gallery, at Morvah Pasty Day, Falmouth’s Parklive & Craft Ale Festivals and Golowan Festival in Penzance, as well as countless gigs across West Cornwall (and even as far afield as Cologne, Germany).

Tycklemore Goats captivate with witty, punchy lyrics, catchy hooks and driving bass that brings a quirkiness to every live show and with a transient line up no two shows quite are the same. At maximum capacity Sticks McGuire keeps everyone in line on the drums while Serendipity serenades with screaming electric guitar. Levi shares vocal duties and plays an acoustic guitar as well as giving his all on percussion (you never seen anyone shake their maracas quite like he does). There’s Peggy’s powerful viola (don’t call it a violin) and if that ain’t enough Kafka elevates it to another dimension with his zither and his saw; all this is underpinned by Leroy’s bass (he plays harmonica too and sings some as well) and Delores’ voice.
