WAVES (UK)

About

Formed in 2012, Waves have gone on to play some of the most prestigious venues on the south coast of England, including Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms, Isle of Wight Festival and Southampton Joiners as well as enjoying playing to busy crowds in London. Their debut self-titled EP was released in the summer of 2013 at a hometown show, to a sold-out crowd. 2014 saw the release of two more singles, which gained radio airplay and interest from press overseas, leading up to a special performance live in HMV Southampton as part of their ‘Digital Week’ and another sold-out hometown show. Their highly anticipated 2nd EP "Young Hearts" released in the summer of 2016 changing the tide on their sound yet again. With hard hitting heavy rock tunes such as "Like We Used To Do" https://youtu.be/nhO3Hz2WSDk and ballads such as "Nightlight". The record features lush harmonies and massive choruses, inspired by the likes of Lower Than Atlantis and Mallory Knox. "4 years" https://youtu.be/igKDW2htiC4 rounded off the dedication of the years the band have been together. Taking the form of a love letter to their youth and past times. The band felt this was the best time to rest and recuperate before coming back stronger than ever. The band decided on a hiatus whilst they completed music projects elsewhere until 2018 where they played a show for fans at the fantastic Strings Bar & Venue. WAVES are currently writing and recording what is hoped to be their best work yet and where better to exhibit songs new and old than the Isle of Wight Festival.
