Yellow Brick House

Outline

Outline are a pop-duo that explore and comment on the complexity of connections, relationships and emotion. The two members – Stan and Macy – first began collaborating when they were just 12 years old. From there, their partnership and musical bond only grew. A few years down the road and Macy and Stan are creating beautifully thought out melodies and poetic lyrics. The transfer of the narrating voice between male and female offers unique and unbiased vocals.

The pairs music stems from personal and others’ experience. Their music produces a calm and pensive atmosphere. However, the rhythmic beats accompanying their slightly melancholy songs drive their music along. Emphasising the most significant aspects of their songs.

Although Outline have been making music for a short time, they have strived and succeeded in making a name for themselves. Since the release of their debut single, ‘Citrus’ in 2020, they have followed with releasing several more singles and 2 EPs. The latest release was distributed in 2022.

‘Yellow Brick house’ is a dedication to all the trapped, vulnerable or lonely individuals. Especially those put in this position due to the lockdowns. Although the song has a sombre tone, it is actually quite uplifting in the accompaniment. It has a sense of inspiration that manages to create a beacon of hope.

Along with releasing all this music, outline also took part in the Future Icon competition and won. This amazing achievement is another arrow to their quiver. One that has given them the amazing opportunity to perform at Bingley Weekender this weekend. If you have tickets make sure to stop by the New Music Stage on the 7th August.

This duo from Brighton have come so far over the past few years and could certainly go further. The relatability of their music, ethereal tonal quality and mesmerising live performances make this duo one to watch. I cannot wait to see what their next project will be!
