Today’s FRESH FIND is The Aftercare.

Transported into a 90s coming-of-age movie, The Aftercare give me all the nostalgic warm vibes I could possibly want or need. With a 2022 full of releases, it’s no surprise that this band have amassed over 100k in streams and almost 30k listeners. And of course it’s not all about the streams but you know, numbers don’t lie, there’s no hiding from the incredible talent this band
possess.

I think my favourite time to listen to this lot is on the train. I recently went back to my hometown for a long weekend and luckily, I had The Aftercare as my soundtrack for the journey. As I was watching the trees and passing towns float past me, I had my favourite
track of theirs, ’Adult Fiction’, seeping out of my headphones and engulfing me in my own thoughts. My main thoughts were along the lines of “wow these guys are bloody amazing!!” and “that is going straight in my playlist”. Which I expect is common from most listeners of the band.

The band are quintessentially British, singing and writing with this in mind their lyrics, they are so utterly relatable for anyone and everyone. Their melodies and instrumentation pay tribute to the 90s and early 00s post punk bands we all knew and loved growing up whilst still giving it their own cheeky twist. They’ve certainly got to be one of the best alt rock bands I’ve heard recently and I cannot wait to see what 2023 brings them. I anticipate only the best and most exciting things from this talented bunch and I know I’ll be keeping up with them on their instagram: @the_aftercare
