Honess Jones

Everyone loves to say they were a fan of ‘insert artist name here’ before they were famous, right? Well, if that’s the case then ‘Heard it Hear First’, terrible pun aside, is your go to destination to discover your new favourite act and keep up to date with the latest and most exciting emerging artists currently on the scene.

Today you can say you heard Sad Little Vice by Honess Jones here first!

Honess Jones is a solo artist from London. He’d like to introduce to you something he calls MEAN POP.

MEAN in swagger, walk and attitude, not exclusively aggression. It stems from the edge of rock n roll through artists like Janet Jackson leading itself to Charli XCX and arriving at Honess Jones. It’s picked a lot up along the way, left no one behind and waited for no one.

His EP, A Modern Guy is the first offering. ‘It’s just the beginning but you’ll see what I MEAN’.

The live show encapsulates Honess’ obsession with the charasmatic and the captivating. With a manor of performance akin to Michael Hutchence of INXS, George Michael and Christine & The Queens, there’s no lack of entertainment.

Honess Jones

Sad Little Vice is the latest single from independent London solo artist Honess Jones and is released today.

Honess (pronounced Ho-Ness) calls the genre of music he makes MEAN POP.  His new single Sad Little Vice aims to define what that is. Within the song, the aggressive and attacking nature of MEAN POP is matched in the anger of a charged and scathing song about phone addiction.

What’s Sad Little Vice about? Ultimately it’s a song of frustration, taking aim at Jones’ self-confessed addiction to his mobile phone.  It’s not just his phone though, its the wider implication of a new-age, social media driven, modernised world.  A world that doesn’t just live within his phone but has started to seep into real life. The reactionary anger at being an artist in 2022 who has ultimately, through playing by these online rules, been left addicted to a Sad Little Vice in his pocket. He’s grappling with this fact however, and understands that it’s very plausible this is just an excuse, social media isn’t the devil and really, he only has himself to blame.  Right?
