Doorsteps

We all remember hearing that one song that changed everything we thought we knew about music. Well, we can’t get enough of new music, and ‘Making Waves’ is your guide to the new artists disrupting the scene…

Making Waves today is Doorsteps.

Formed amongst the angst of the West London suburbs, Doorsteps hope to join the illustrious lineage of indie-rock bands from the Capital. With an aim to write songs devoid of excessive and cliche storylines, the band have chaotically cultivated a unique sound and style.

With initial influences ranging from the Strokes to Sports Team, Alfie Vadon (lead guitarist) and Tom Farmer (bass, keys) have been penning lyrics for the last three years. With time, new uni friends joining and the birthday present of a synth, the band’s sound has matured to mirror 80s New Wave bands such as New Order, as well as drawing influence from the growing alt-dance scene spearheaded by bands like Working Men’s Club and PVA to create a strain of danceable indie-rock. The vocals of Kalenco (Chloe Stiens) have added a sound for fans of Portishead, Lana De Rey and the Cranberries. Lyrically, the band attempt to channel the wit and conversationality of the likes of Pavement and the Libertines.
