We can’t get enough of new music, and Making Waves is your guide to the new artists disrupting the scene…
Making Waves today is I Was Afraid by Johnny Brock
After half a lifetime of touring, performing, and writing with some of New Zealand’s most talented artists and songwriters (Avalanche City, Great North, Farah Loux, Joseph & Maia, Shannon Fowler of Tom Lark, and PleasePlease), multi-instrumentalist Johnny Brock recognized 2017 was the right time to take a step towards center stage, and begin releasing original music under his own name.
His alternative indie-rock songs combine raw guitar energy with distressingly honest lyrics and his reflective delivery to create eerily beautiful soundscapes. Complex in personality and simple in composition, his music serves to both haunt and encourage his audience.
Johnny’s debut record LABRADOR is available now through Spotify, iTunes, or free download via JohnnyBrockMusic.com.

The live industry has been decimated by Coronavirus, and the livelihoods of many musicians, venues, promoters, agents, managers, sound engineers, videographers and stage reps hang in the balance. Many of these individuals are freelancers, self-employed, or sustain themselves project-to-project, or gig-by-gig.
Best of all it’s totally free to watch – and you can get access to some exclusive rewards from Johnny Brock…
