Dvrk Romantics

Ever wondered what music your favourite band listens to? What songs inspire the best songwriters?

In this feature, we’ll speak to some of HOT VOX’s favourite new artists on the gigging scene and find out what songs shaped them to be the musicians and artists they are today and what’s on their Spotify Playlist.

Today’s playlist is curated by DVRK ROMANTICS!

With a love of blues, glam rock and indie music, Dvrk Romantics fused their influences together to make a sonic that combines atmospheric vocals with hooky drums and Cinematic nods. ‘We both love Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Western and Cinema, so this is carried across in the music, and the visuals of the band’.

Making Apple Music Editorial Playlists in ‘New In Rock’ for their last release, Have it All, Dvrk Romantics have picked up a large following across Europe.

Rachels vocals have been likened to that of Lana Del Rey, Lorde and Robyn, and it’s the eclectic mix of this against Mickys production that brings every listener into the Dvrk Romantics Sphere.

DVRK ROMANTICS

Who is DVRK ROMANTICS?

Dvrk Romantics is a rock/punk/pop infused band with retro sprinkles. It’s like Stevie nicks and Gwen stefani had a baby.

Playlist Songs

Song from the first album you ever bought/listened to?

Okay, I’m a 90’s baby so it was actually B*witched – and I’m not gonna lie, it still slaps.

A song you wish you had written?

Wicked game by Chris Isaac. What a classic, a vibe and just everything about it is just sultry, sexy and emotional.

A song that inspires you?

Really inspired by Stevie nicks – edge of 17. And then this year i discovered a mashup of MIley Cyrus and Stevie nicks called ‘edge of midnight’ and that is the rocky / poppy sweet spot of why I love music so much. Any song that can be transformed over time and repurposed is something that inspires me so much.

Last song you purchased?

Last song I purchased was Drive by Gretal Hanlyn – it’s a complete vibe and has the hookiest baseline.

A song that makes you feel nostalgic?

Ooooooh it has to be take on me by aha. For some reason it just reminds me of dancing around my mums kitchen way past my bedtime.

Your favourite sing-along song in the shower?

At the moment I am really into Fizz – and their new song ‘High in Brighton’ has been living in my head rent free. Been hitting some sweet harmonies in the shower  .

A song that confirmed your love for music?

Together in electric dreams. That song literally makes me so happy every time I hear it. The production, the synths, just the sheer joy it makes me feel all over made me want to just be a musician!

A song you put on when getting ready for a big night out?

Anything with a great baseline – right now it would be royal blood – trouble. And that would just sit on repeat hyping me up!

The song do you put on repeat if you’ve just had your heart broken?

Queen Lana. Anything by her. Summertime sadness cranked up to 11 and just let those tears flow.,

Your worst guilty pleasure song?

I mean. It’s an absolute bop – sound of the underground girls aloud. That is the epitome of pop music!
