Who are CAN’T STOP TALKING? Where you’re from, how you met, how long have you been playing together etc

CAN’T STOP TALKING are a four-piece, post-punk band from London, consisting of Jamie (vocals), Dan (guitar), Luca (drums), Benny (bass). Dan and Luca started writing songs together three years ago after meeting through a previous music project. They brought Jamie (Dan’s younger brother, who was a footballer at the time with no musical background!) into the fold some time in 2020 after an unsuccessful period of scouting for a vocalist. The trio continued to write and develop a strong rapport with one another and in February 2022, recruited Benny and decided to take a single song, “Freak Out”, into the rehearsal room to see how it felt being played live. The band new instantly that it felt special and decided to commit to playing live shows from that day. Within three weeks they had an entire set list ready to play live, playing their first gig on 13 April at The Victoria, Dalston.

Who came up with the band name and does it have a story or any meaning behind it?

Jamie suggested the name due to his inability to shut the **** up! Dan and Luca jumped on it and they haven’t looked back since.

If you had to describe the band using just five words, what would they be?

Dirty, filthy, naughty, cheeky riffs.

Who are your biggest influences musically?

The Bootleg Beatles, Justin Bieber. You know, the usual.

What’s the band’s biggest claim to fame so far?

Headlining The Finsbury and playing to a full house.

What’s your songwriting process?

Put down riffs and vocals arbitrarily and pray to the high heavens for the best!

If you could go on tour with any current band or artist, who would it be and why?

IDLES. They don’t take themselves too seriously and they put on huge, stirring, exciting shows.

If you could put your dream team band together consisting of any musicians from the past or present who would the band members be?

Our line up as it is but maybe with Mozart on keys.

How would you describe your live show to someone who has never seen you perform before?

Pure, unadulterated energy. Loud.

Do any of you have any pre-gig or post gig rituals? If so, what and why?

What would your ultimate rider be if you could have anything without being accused of being a diva?

Manicures and pedicures backstage. And we want large bread for our sandwiches. Amps that go up to 11.

There is no such thing as embarrassing music. One should wear their music taste proudly, like glistening armour, for the world to see! Luca is a big fan of Maroon Five though.
