Elandra

In this feature, we’ll speak to some of HOT VOX’s favourite new artists on the gigging scene and find out what shaped them into the artist they are today.

Today we’re featuring Elandra!

Brighton alt-indie outfit Elandra are carving out their space in the UK’s alternative scene with a rich blend of psychedelic textures, infectious indie melodies and dreamy pop atmospheres. Fronted by Italian-born songwriter and producer Paolo Siviero, the band has already drawn praise from tastemakers like EARMILKMusic CrownsPsychedelic Baby Mag, and Lost In The Manor, while lighting up local venues including Green Door Store and Hope and Ruin. With a dynamic live presence and a string of headline and support slots behind them—including shows for Alt Escape 2025—Elandra now gear up for their debut album in May 2026, teased by a wave of singles dropping from September 2025 onwards.

I Don't Know

Elandra

Who are Elandra?

“Elandra is the musical project of Paolo (songwriter / producer) and George (bassist) that draws influences from the alternative indie neo psychedelia era of late 2010s. We’re from Brighton, we met at uni and we’ve been playing together for the last 5 years.”

Who came up with the band name and does it have a story or any meaning behind it?

“Really what we did was write down a list of names when we were a 5-piece band and we chose the one that sounded better. Elandra means ‘Home by the sea’.”

If you had to describe the band using just five words, what would they be?

“Introspective, conflicted, whimsical, indie and groovers!”

Who are your biggest influences musically?

“Probably Tame Impala, MGMT, Empire of the Sun, Radiohead and The Strokes.”

What’s the band’s biggest claim to fame so far?

“We almost sold out a 60 people capacity venue, so we’re quite far behind. Jokes aside, released 2 EPs, got featured in several magazines as new psychedelic comers and we’re supporting some big acts next year.”

What’s your songwriting process?

“Quite a difficult one as I haven’t been writing for a while. Usually it’s always been me going around on a walk by myself, thinking and overthinking about experiences in life. At some point waking up from a trance-kind of state (more like daydreaming) with a melody, recording that on the phone and bringing it onto Ableton to start the process of digging. Many times I’ve started from a little idea to arrive to another idea, scrap out everything else and restart from there to get the final song out.”

If you could go on tour with any current band or artist, who would it be and why?

“It’d be probably Tame Impala, it’s been my biggest inspiration so far and the music I’ve resonated the most throughout my entire life.”

If you could put your dream team band together consisting of any musicians from the past or present who would the band members be?

“John Frusciante on guitar, Ray Manzarek on piano, Kevin Parker on bass, Jeff Buckley on vocals and John Bonham on drums. I’d just sit back and relax then!”

How would you describe your live show to someone who has never seen you perform before?

“Energetic, weird, emotional and probably just a bit of a ride.”

Do any of you have any pre-gig or post gig rituals? If so, what and why?

“Probably just a beer and a cig to warm down the vocals (I know it shouldn’t be like that, but it’s just a bit of a prize at the end of it).”

What would your ultimate rider be if you could have anything without being accused of being a diva?

“Free aperol spritzes and food!”

If we were to browse your music library what is the most embarrassing song we might find? Or who is your guilty pleasure artist?

“Probably all the 8 hours long deep sleep tunes that I listen to every night, guilty pleasure artist might be charlie xcx at the moment.”

Tell us one thing your fans would be really shocked or surprised to hear or learn about the band?

“I spend my time delicately making sure everything feels right, looks and sounds to the best of their possibilites (even though it doesn’t necessarily pay off), so sometimes I waste times on details nobody would hear if I didn’t necessarily point it out to them.”

If people want to check you out online where is the best place to go?

“Our instagram is quite active (@whoiselandra)”

Finally, What does the future hold for the band?

“Hopefully festival slots, and plenty of new music for everybody to enjoy!2
