Who are George Sanders and the Parallels? Where you’re from, how you met, how long have you been playing together, etc

George Sanders And The Parallels started in the spring of 2020 when the I (George) broke away from my previous band. We are from the South East of Essex in England and we met via online music pages.

Who came up with the band name and does it have a story or any meaning behind it?

Me and my fiance (now wife)  were sitting in a carpark some distance away but opposite Southend Pier, we were both thinking of band name ideas when she asked “Do you recon we’re parallel to the pier?”. She then just said George Sanders And The Parallels to see what it sounded like. I liked it so it stuck.

If you had to describe the band using just five words, what would they be?

Exceedingly loud and wonderfully outrageous

Who are your biggest influences musically?

The Beatles, Oasis, Arctic Monkeys & Catfish and the Bottlemen

What’s the band’s biggest claim to fame so far?

Being chosen as one of BBC Introducing’s top pics of 2022

What’s your songwriting process?

I generally get the music first and then fit a vocal melody around what I have written. I then build the songs from there. Sometimes a vocal melody will come into my head at a random time and I’ll record it with my voice notes app. When I’m home I’ll get my guitar and play around with the melody I’d recorded.

If you could go on tour with any current band or artist, who would it be and why?

Liam Gallagher or Catfish And The Bottlemen had they not split up 🙁 the after parties would be wild and I bet some of the stories are class.

If you could put your dream team band together consisting of any musicians from the past or present who would the band members be?

Roger Taylor on drums/ backing vocals, Paul McCartney on bass and co songwriter/ co lead singer, Noel Gallagher on rythm guitar as co singer/ co song writer, Justin Hawkins as lead singer and lead guitarist.

How would you describe your live show to someone who has never seen you perform before?

Proper Rock and roll how it used to be

Do any of you have any pre-gig or post gig rituals? If so, what and why?

Not really, we always meet up first and chill, maybe have a drink and grab something to eat.

What would your ultimate rider be if you could have anything without being accused of being a diva?

Fried chicken, red stripe and Marlborough reds.
