My Everest

Who are My Everest? Where you’re from, how you met, how long have you been playing together etc

An amalgamation of failed bands and old musical projects from the South East (London and Kent) came together in 2018 to began writing music and have been brothers ever since.

Who came up with the band name and does it have a story or any meaning behind it?

Aren’t all band names rubbish until you’re good!? Beatles (but we spell it Beat!), Razorlight, Coldplay… all nonsense until it supersedes itself.

My Everest. The general idea is the fact that we have a goal which seems almost impossible (like climbing Everest) but we are going to strive for it. For me the music industry is “My Everest”

If you had to describe the band using just five words, what would they be?

Very Silly, Charismatic, Pop Rock

Who are your biggest influences musically?

The band graduated from BritPop influences of the early nineties into being huge emo and pop punk and pop fans in our teens and we are now encouraged by the recent headline indie resurgence (Foals,  Royal Blood, Don Broco, You Me At Six and 1975)

What’s the band’s biggest claim to fame so far?

Selling out the Camden Assembly. *clang

What’s your songwriting process?

Normally one member will bring an idea they are confident with and we’ll collaborate on that in the rehearsal room until we have something workable. We are not great at working solo to be honest!

If you could go on tour with any current band or artist, who would it be and why?

I (Connor, singer) am obsessed with watching influential front men or women… the king of having the crowd in the palm of their hand right now is Dave Grohl… can we tour with Foos please!? RIP Taylor

How would you describe your live show to someone who has never seen you perform before?

Silly escapism with new friends.

Do any of you have any pre-gig or post gig rituals? If so, what and why?

Two beers a Nando’s and a famously unstructured sound check.

What would your ultimate rider be if you could have anything without being accused of being a diva?

Please can we have a hot tub in the green room? (And fresh towels)
