No One Else but You

Sophie Griffiths

Who is Sophie Griffiths? Where are you from, how long have you been playing music etc

I am a 17 year old singer-songwriter from Essex. I have always loved music, and have grown up in a musical household. However, I only had the confidence to start publicly performing at the age of 14.

If you had to describe your sound using just five words, what would they be?

Pop, soulful, relatable, raw, mellow

Who are your biggest influences musically?

My main influences are old school artists such as Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, and Etta James who I have idolised from a young age.

What’s your songwriting process?

It really depends on the writing session, but generally I start off deciding upon a song concept (what I want to write about, depending on how I’m feeling at that moment). Then I lay down some chords, and finally the vocal melody and lyrics typically come together!

When you were younger, what was the first album that blew you away and you remember putting on repeat non-stop?

Adele – 19

As a performer, what’s your biggest claim to fame so far?

I received a co-sign by Olivia Buckland (Social Media Influencer with over 2 million followers) describing my voice as ‘beautiful’. I was busking with two friends locally and Olivia filmed us and posted us onto her Instagram story to her millions of followers- my phone crashed that day!

If you could go on tour with any current band or artist, who would it be and why?

Stevie Wonder, he is my absolute idol.

If you could put your dream team band together consisting of any musicians from the past or present who would the band members be?

Amy Winehouse, Stevie Wonder, Etta James, Joni Mitchell

How would you describe your live show to someone who has never seen you perform before?

Authentic, acoustic, original

Do you have any pre-gig or post gig rituals? If so, what and why?

I actually don’t! I warm up my voice before my set, if that counts?!

What would your ultimate rider be if you could have anything without being accused of being a diva?

A record player and my favourite records, so I could feel inspired before going on stage.

If we were to browse your music library what is the most embarrassing song we might find? Or who is your guilty pleasure artist?

The soundtrack to Disney’s Tangled lols.

Tell us one thing your fans would be really shocked or surprised to hear or learn about you

I used to compete in Ice Figure Skating around the UK.

If people wants to check you out online where is the best place to go?

Instagram/ Facebook – @sophiegriffithssinger
Twitter/ Tiktok – @sophiegsinger

Finally, What does the future hold for you as an artist?

Releasing music to a growing fan base. My ultimate goal is to be playing a show to 1,000+ people.
