Marco Tamimi

As an integral part of any song, lyrics act a way for artists to divulge their thoughts with listeners, but with so many songs out there, how can you be sure to hear all of these messages?

To grasp these hidden meanings, we have asked Marco Tamimi to showcase some of their favourite, original lyrics and are pleased to feature them as part of our Waxing Lyrical series.

Today’s Waxing Lyrical With Marco Tamimi dives into the lyrics of their song Different Eyes.

WANT TO HEAR MORE? Marco Tamimi is taking part in RISING, our brand new series of live-streamed events, which aims to support and raise money for War Child UK to assist their work during the Covid-19 crisis.

HOT VOX have raised thousands of pounds for War Child through live gigs and events over the past two years. Now we’re taking RISING online, and with the help of our immensely talented roster of artists, we hope to raise even more vital funds for this valuable cause.

Different Eyes

Marco Tamimi

Meaning

The song is basically about being with someone but you keep getting the feeling that they’re not into the relationship anymore. Despite knowing this, you keep holding onto it because you’re scared of letting go. Proper deep stuff hehe. My favourite line in the song is ‘I wish I could read your mind, but I’m scared of what I’d find’. I think that particular line captures the message of the song pretty well.

VERSE 1:

I never

I never thought I’d hear those words from your tongue

Never thought you’re touch could feel so rough

Seems like you’re done

And I’m not enough

Do you want me?

Do you want me like you always did?

Do you want my body like when we first kissed?

It’s just you look at me strange

Like you don’t know my name

CHORUS 1:

If you’re seeing me through different eyes

Won’t you tell cos my heart is tired

I can’t take another silent night

I know you’re seeing me through different eyes

And if you won’t try then I won’t try

When you say you love I know you lie

I know you’re seeing me, you’re seeing me through different eyes

VERSE 2:

And I try to

I try to tell you the truth

I try but then I can’t pull through

So I’ve kept it inside

Locked in my mind

CHORUS 2:

If you’re seeing me through different eyes

Won’t you tell cos my heart is tired

I can’t take another silent night

I know you’re seeing me through different eyes

And if you won’t try then I won’t try

When you say you love I know you lie

I know you’re seeing me, you’re seeing me through different eyes

BRIDGE:

And I wish I could read your mind

But I’m scared of what I’d find

When you tell me we’re alright

Is that the truth?

I wish I could read your mind

But I’m scared of what I’d find

When you tell me we’re alright

Is that the truth?

CHORUS 3:

So If you’re seeing me through different eyes

Won’t you tell cos my heart is tired

I can’t take another silent night

I know you’re seeing me through different eyes

If you’re seeing me through different eyes

Won’t you tell cos my heart is tired

I can’t take another silent night

I know you’re seeing me through different eyes

And if you won’t try how can I try

When you say you love I know you lie

I know you’re seeing me, you’re seeing me through different eyes
