As an integral part of any song, lyrics act a way for artists to divulge their thoughts with listeners, but with so many songs out there, how can you be sure to hear all of these messages?
To grasp these hidden meanings, we have asked StoneCrown to showcase some of their favourite, original lyrics and are pleased to feature them as part of our Waxing Lyrical series.
Today’s Waxing Lyrical With StoneCrown dives into the lyrics of their song ‘Wiser Rider’.

“Wiser Rider” is the second song that was ever written by StoneCrown in 2019. It is an anthem about self-detachment and self-destruction, and what it can mean to an individual.
It describes deep feelings of an individual who has lost faith and trust in relating to someone.
The main character in the song has lost himself throughout the way and is locking himself in an abstract cage torturing himself for untold reasons.
He is scared to show his feelings and rather lose it all by faking it to be “Wiser” in his own way.
The lyrics mentions a long-distance relationship which turned out to be very sick and unhealthy, leading the individual to become greatly self-detached and to lose himself.
Again, the individual is trying to describe a metaphorical place in which he will be tortured by his own beliefs, while knowing that he’s pretending to be better off on his own.
Lyrics:
I’ll leave you a message if I ever find my way
You got me messed up
I’m fixing up my brain
I kept the doors closed to shut the spiders in
And let the stone cold
And let the cold come in
I couldn’t fit in my fate
‘Cause all the pieces then fade away
And there’s a liar stuck in between
He’s faking to be a Wiser Rider
When on his way
Been through the distance
A long distance psychosis
And let the wisdom forgive her deepest sins
I kept the lights off until the spies come in
To change the lock code
And feed the spiders needs
I couldn’t fit in my fate
‘Cause all the pieces then fade away
And there’s a liar stuck in between
He’s faking to be a Wiser Rider
When on his way
On his way
On his way
mm
The silence loudly conceals the certain knowledge of how it feels
But there’s a clown here, right in between
He’s faking to be a Wiser Rider
When on his way
I couldn’t fit in my fate
‘Cause all the pieces then fade away
And there’s a liar stuck in between
He’s faking to be a Wiser Rider
When on his way
On his way
Choose your fate
